Contagion (2011)
It may seem vague, but with so many characters and stories going on at once is a bit difficult to nail a synopsis, without giving too much away. The film takes approach gives us the events on a daily structure that shows how fast and destructive stretching and mutating. The characters of abandonment and will help give us different views on the effects of the virus, if it is an almost random citizen, a permanent doctor at Ground Zero, or researchers in the laboratory. We learn that the first steps we are sure, and the film does not spare you to know that feeling again and again.
While I was somewhat stunned by the almost ridiculous amount of fixtures at the beginning of the film, it became clear exactly what kind of chic image Soderbergh intended. Depending on location, color changes and reinvents itself. Some scenes look simply superb in their production values, making a big budget Hollywood project to look like a down and dirty, gritty indie fans. Soderbergh has never been so easy to classify, and with this film as his major film Ocean Thirteen First, it maintains and promotes its enigmatic nature. The score for 1980 stabbing synth was a nice touch and confusing too, but I would have expected nothing less.
Despite what the trailers and some of my early praise would have you believe, the infection is very slow and meticulous film, which is only partially exciting. Yes, there is a panic tone of the film that brings a good deal - which often turns into the dawn of claustrophobia as the characters and the viewers themselves as diffusion of viruses, destructive - but the tone does not seem fair. Jump and variable disappears almost completely, in some cases, and overdoing for others. It seems totally unable to solve one of the ideal, and consequently, feel good all over-the-place. I do not want to say, considering what is truly a master director Soderbergh, but the film begins when the discharge starts and never seems to find its feet.
As I entered the contagion of excitement, I left more than a little betrayed. The short film was made for him, it just seems like everything has gone to waste (including death absolutely shocking that is destroyed by the trailers). It would be a paranoid thriller focuses, a not so subtle satire, or simply an exercise in fear contagion winner in all respects. It is too slow, and the worst of times, incredibly boring. You better watch the trailer loop and see how much better the film is more like it really is.
